5.A coach wants to find out the speed of the runners on a track team. Tell what simple equipment the coach needs in order to do this and explain how it should be done. If you look at the triangle formula, you ‘ll see that you need to know the time and distance in order to calculate speed. 1 Donovan has been running at a pace of 30 m/min S he is starting to feel tired and slows his pace down to a15m/minS for he felt a bit winded. What is his acceleration if it takes him 3mins to do this?



2 Dominika was playing a wicked game of kick ball. The pitcher rolled the ball to her at home plate at a rate of 5m/s N. She belted the ball when it came to her and the ball was clocked at 25m/s S. It took 3 sec. for the ball to accelerate. But, what was the acceleration.

3 My cat Tavarua an excellent hunter was out in the yard hunting. Then scampered toward a bird and the chase was on. She chased this bird for 10seconds. This bird was flying at a rate of 10km/s S it for it was flustered by the Tavy chasing it. In its frenzy the bird flew towards the opening in the house to escape the cat. Then it happened the bird flew right into the glass sliding door. Was there negative acceleration? What was it?

4 Tye is driving his pick-up at 30km/hr, when in the distance he saw the railroad signal start to flash and gates go down. He depressed the brake and slowed to a rate 5km/hr. It took him 3 sec to do this. Solve for acceleration.

5 Mrs. Furlong is running down the street at 10 meters per second. She sees a double-tall latte on the road ahead of her and starts sprinting. After 5 seconds have passed, she is running at 15 meters per second. Assuming she does not change direction, what was her acceleration?

6 Two ants race across a table 50cm long. One travels at 4cm/s and the other at 2cm/s. When the first one crosses the finish line, how far behind is the second one?

7 Lance bike up and down the hills of France, He started when he reached the top of a hill he was moving at .5 km/min. It took him 2mins to glide down this hill. But, in that 2mins he reached a velocity of 1 km/min. Will he fall if there is a small pebble at the bottom on the hill? And what was his acceleration during this time interval.

4. A lizard accelerates from 2 m/s to 10 m/s in 4 seconds. What is the lizard’s average acceleration?

5. If a Ferrari, with an initial velocity of 10 m/s, accelerates at a rate of 50 m/s/s for 3 seconds, what will its final velocity be?  Use algebra.
