Physical Science

Holy Cross School uses the Discovery Education Techbook™ digital textbook series that is aligned to rigorous Next Generation Science Standards, and supports a  Diocese of Trenton comprehensive curriculum. This resource is used to ignite curiosity and enhances learning of content taught from the Pearson Science Explorer Textbook Series. In addition to content cover in textbooks Holy Cross Middle School Science Program has classes create science presentations based on solving science issues in current events, weekly for hands on experiences aims to have a competitive STEM projects, and a comprehensive final. The content covered in 8 th grade is: Measurement & Scientific Method, Elements and Compounds & Density, Solids Liquids Gasses  , Periodic Table, Chemical Bonds: Covalent and Ionic, Chemical Reactions, Indicator, Catalysts, Acids vs. Bases, Ocean Acidification Presentation, Speed & Acceleration, Force & Work, Final Project Newton Scooter Digital Presentation of a unique creation. STEM based learning teaching strategies are integrated in to into each chapter, with opportunities for group projects, independent projects and differentiated projects.

 

Life Science

STEM based learning teaching strategies are integrated in to into each chapter, with opportunities for group projects, independent projects and differentiated projects.

 

Earth Science, Ecology and the Human Body

Holy Cross School uses the Discovery Education Techbook™ digital textbook series that is aligned to rigorous Next Generation Science Standards, and supports a  Diocese of Trenton comprehensive curriculum. This resource is used to ignite curiosity and enhances learning of content taught from the Pearson Science Explorer Textbook Series and Foss Kits from Delta Education. In addition to content cover in textbooks Holy Cross Middle School Science Program has classes create science presentations based on solving science issues in current events, weekly for hands on experiences aims to have a competitive STEM projects, and a comprehensive final. The content covered in 6 th grade is: Measurement & Scientific Method, Local Estuary Exploration and Problem Solving Local Pollution, Earth's History, Earth's Structure, Earth's Systems, Weathering and Erosion, Human Impact on Earth's Systems, Competition for Resources : Food Webs,  Parts of a Food Chain, Energy Flow in the Environment, Predators and Prey, Decomposition, Human Systems and Human Body Projects. STEM based learning teaching strategies are integrated in to into each chapter, with opportunities for group projects, independent projects and differentiated projects.
